Bring your guests to any or all of the following events:
For every event they attend, we get to count them in our total!
How it Works:
If every member of our club would introduce “10” non-horse people each, (your family, neighbors, friends, co-workers) to horses, we would have over 800 people to add to our total.
If your “10” non-horse people attend 10 of the above events, this would count as 100 non-horse people.
Our goal for the “Time to Ride Challenge”, is to sign up* 1,200 non-horse people, by September 30th.
*There will be a club member at each event with a Newcomers Log, that each person must sign, or their visit does not count.
Any questions please contact Vern 815-354-4418
Thank you in advance for your support!
MCHC has joined forces with the Bull Valley Riding Club, McHenry County Saddle Club, Spring Grove Horse Show Inc., and Riding Club of Barrington Hills, to establish the Equestrian Collation of McHenry County (ECMC). By establishing this alliance, we opened the first new horse trail in 25 years in McHenry County! The Brookdale Site opened on June 4th and there is a temporary Horse Trailer Parking Area for our use.
Our next goal is to raise $40,000 for a permanent horse trailer parking area. The ECMC has already raised $22,000 of the $40,000 that will be used as matching funds for the Federal Government’s RTP Grant program. MCCD has made an application for such a grant in March of this year for a project totaling $200,000.
Now for the good news, the American Horse Council has a “Time To Ride Challenge” and is awarding cash prizes. We have registered as a participant in the Medium Division. It is our goal to become a first place winner and receive $10,000!
All we need to do, is each of us hold a 3 minute event attended by non-horse participants. Participants can be family, friends, neighbors or any non-horse person you know. It easy to do, you could have your horse at a boarding barn or at home to participate in this event.
The attached sheets will get you started. So, please read them and contact Vern Scacci directly so he can schedule your events and participants.

Thank you all for making this year's tack sale a success!! This event would not be successful without our wonderful members that contributed. From the raffle donations, to the cookie bakers, and the raffle ticket buyers we all raised money for the club. Thank you! Remember we are only as strong and dedicated as our members, without a strong base, we have nothing to stand on.
We are pleased to announce that the Bull's tickets were sold! The club earned $600 to support our fund raising efforts to provide permanent horse trailer parking at Brookdale!
New Brookdale Multi Use Trail to Open A new 4.25 multi use trail at the 1,645-acre Brookdale Conservation Area in Woodstock is scheduled to open in late May. The first phase of the project also includes creating a temporary horse trailer parking lot off the existing Paulson Road entrance. The mowed grass trail crosses Paulson Road and runs a loop along trees and around agricultural fields, staying west of Deep Cut Road. This trail addition will complement the existing 1-mile looped nature trail, picnic shelter, 11-acre fishing pond and observation deck accessed off Route 14 or the Paulson Road Entrance.
The Equestrian Coalition of McHenry County (which is comprised of the following equestrian organizations: McHenry County Horse Club, Bull Valley Riding Club, Riding Club of Barrington Hills, McHenry County Saddle Club and Northern Illinois Horseman’s Association) and the McHenry County Conservation Foundation have been working to raise funds for the Project. A check was presented in the amount of $16,765 towards Phase 1 of the Brookdale Site Master Plan Multi-Use Trail and Parking Lot at the Regular Meeting of the Board of Trustees Meeting on January 15, 2015 and pledged to raise and provide the local matching funds in order for the District to submit an Illinois and Department of Natural Resources 2015 RTP Grant for Phase 2 & 3 of the project.
